Spending Christmas on the Road

Welcome back to blogging!  I am planning for more frequent (and more interesting) updates for 2012... back to doing what I love... and I have enjoyed lots of new travel experiences over the past year to share with you!

This year, I spent an early Christmas with my boyfriend in Key West. A little partying in Miami, a long drive with the ocean on either side, and wandering around the famous key... I think I found a new favorite way to spend Christmas: strolling between palm trees lit up with tiny lights and trading the egg nog for mojitos served fresh from a vintage car overlooking the pier. Instead of wallowing on my parent's couch after a large, delicious meal, we relaxed in a hammock with the sun on our faces. It was lovely, and reinforced a very important lesson - it's not where you are but who you're with that brings you Christmas spirit!

Merry Christmas to all and wishing you the best in the new year! :)

A 2011 Moment...

So don't be anxious about tomorrow.  God will take care of your tomorrow too.  Live one day at a time.  Matthew 6:34

Enjoying Our Capital

My beloved travel companion (remember, the one who retired?), Karissa, wanted to spend her birthday in Washington DC over the summer.  I hadn't been back to our nation's capitol since the 8th grade, when I bought a pair of fake Oakley's and got in trouble for throwing oranges at cars parked at our hotel.  Oops.  I'll admit, I was a little worried the city might be a bit boring for the twenty something scene, but silly me, I was wrong...

We quite enjoyed a nice stroll on a warm day to this gem of a tapas restaurant. The sangria was light, fizzy, and delightful.  The small, warm plates, incredibly delicious. I think this restaurant will be a staple for each time I return.

Did a bit of shopping (good sale at Banana Republic), and searched high and low for a comfortable and flattering summer dress in coral (no luck). Drinks beside the river with the fierce and fashionable crowd... And this is my friend Willy - get to know him.

That evening we played with some gentlemen from the FBI in a dark dungeon of a dance club, begging Karissa not to go on a bike ride in the middle of the night.  Needless to say we were in dire need of a greasy breakfast in the morning.  Beignets and bloodies? Yes please!

Thank you darling Willy and Washington DC for a fabulous weekend...

Bienvenido a Miami

My 27th Birthday in Miami at the Fountainebleau... The expensive pitcher of mojito, amazing. Watching the awkward McLovin' enjoy the spotlight in a nearby cabana, funny. The sun and the scenery, trendy.

And I found a nice spot to spend the next birthday... my own private cabana island. I wonder how the waitresses get your drinks to you?

It's been a long time since I came around...

Hello friends and fans! I'm back! I took a bit of a break after a hard end of year (and difficult beginning of year), but I'm here and I have lots to share! I've been a busy travel bee so far in 2011...
